April 22, 2020: Teton County/Jackson Parks & Recreation (TCJPR), along with the rest of our country, is awaiting information related to opening communities in light of the current COVID-19 outbreak. As of today, Teton County School District (TCSD) property is closed to the public and should not be accessed for any reason unless permission is obtained from TCSD. All other parks, courts and fields inside Jackson/Teton County are open for responsible use as long as patrons adhere to Public Health guidelines. Seasonal restrooms, as of now, will not be scheduled for opening until June 1st. If Public Health or Elected Officials determine an earlier “opening” date than June 1st, staff will evaluate resources to determine if restrooms can be opened earlier. TCJPR will continue to coordinate with TCSD and local officials to determine opening dates for fields and facilities as it relates to organized group functions. We appreciate the community’s patience and ask that everyone adhere to all guidelines whenever accessing public spaces. Information on Orders and guidelines related to COVID-19 can be found at JHCOVID.COM. For questions or concerns you can e-mail Andy Erskine, Parks Manager. aerskine@tetoncountywy.gov
March 19, 2020: The Teton County/Jackson Parks & Recreation Department (TCJPR) would like to clarify service levels on multi-use fields, ball parks, pathways and parks within Teton County.
Based on direction from public officials, recommendations from the Teton County Public Health Officer and policies implemented by Parks & Recreation Department, the Parks Department will continue our basic service levels for ALL parks, pathways and spring field preparation, which includes: opening seasonal restrooms between April 15, 2020 and May 1, 2020; basic field & park preparation including turf care and charging of irrigation systems based on weather conditions; and limited field lining and infrastructure preparation. Staff’s goal is to have fields, parks, pathways and associated infrastructure safe, functional and accessible for individual and small group use if the public chooses to access those areas. Parks & Recreation may, at any point, change service levels based on Teton County School District #1 (TCSD) direction for fields on TCSD property, direction from elected officials or policy change within the Division.
Staff will increase cleaning and safety measures at TCSD facilities and within Teton County to ensure health guidelines from the Teton County Public Health Department are being met.
Currently TCJPR has suspended reservations for group athletic and special events of greater than 50 people and are discouraging any group gatherings within the parks, pathways and athletic fields. Staff will continue to take conditional reservations for future events after April 26, 2020 and reserves the right to cancel based on decisions from elected officials, TCSD or the director of Parks and Recreation.
These are the links to the basic service levels for fields and the seasonal restroom opening schedule.
