The Teton County/Jackson Parks and Recreation Department has officially switched over to our 7-day week winter operations. As of Wednesday December 9, 2020, both Owen Bircher and Fairgrounds ice rinks are up and running. Check out our website at the following location for updates, hours of operations and reservation information including a calendar of reservations and open skate times: http://www.tetonparksandrec.org/1355/Ice-Rinks. You can also sign up for our ice rink updates on Twitter (@TCJPRrinks) which is linked to the website as well. Staff has come up with a plan to open Powderhorn Ice rink as conditions and resources allow. It will take a little longer to get up and running and will be low on the priority list during large or prolonged snow events. We need another 2-4” of snow before we can begin building that rink. Keep checking the website for updates. We are still patiently awaiting more snow in order to get the PistenBully out for grooming as well. We did get the roller/snowmobile out to Stilson in the last day or two and most other areas are skier packed at this time. In addition to our normal grooming schedule and locations, JHMR and Teton Village Association will groom the pathway section of Highway 390 this year from Lake Creek to the Village. They also need more snow to begin this but it’s another exciting opportunity to get outdoors. Please continue to check the website and/or Twitter feed (@TCJPRGrooming) for the most up to date information: http://www.tetonparksandrec.org/1353/Grooming-Report
Thanks to everyone for doing your part to keep the community safe and your patience as we wait for the winter weather to really set in.
