Changes in Wild Game Disposal at Trash Transfer Station

Effective Monday, December 6th, 2021, Teton County Integrated Solid Waste and Recycling will begin transferring wild game carcasses to Sublette County Waste Management District for disposal.  With the imminent closure of the dead animal pit at the Teton County Trash Transfer Station and the detection of Chronic Wasting Disease, ISWR evaluated safe and environmentally sound disposal options for wildlife carcasses and determined that disposal at a nearby, lined, landfill was the preferred option.

Public entities (including federal, state, and municipal government agencies), private businesses, and community members disposing of wild game carcasses will be charged the new transfer rate of $0.22 per pound ($433.00 per ton).   Wildlife carcasses can be disposed of at the Trash Transfer Station Monday – Friday, 8am-3pm and Saturdays, 9am-1pm.  There is no change to the tip fee for domestic animals.

For more information on wild game carcass disposal and other Trash Transfer Station guidelines and tip fees please call (307) 733-7678.
