[ARCHIVED] Proper Wild Game Disposal at the Trash Transfer Station

Proper Wild Game Disposal

Proper Wild Game Disposal at Trash Transfer Station

Hunters and wild game processors please be advised that any quantity, whole or part, of wild game is not permitted in the general trash. Partial animals need to be contained prior to disposal at the Teton County Trash Transfer Station by either a plastic bag, tarp, or lined container separate from other trash. Teton County hauls general trash to Bonneville County, ID and is not permitted to haul any amount of wild game over state lines due to positive CWD cases in Teton County, WY. Notify the scale attendant for directions to the disposal location on site.

As a reminder, Teton County Integrated Solid Waste and Recycling transfers all wild game carcasses to Sublette County Waste Management District for disposal.   Public entities (including federal, state, and municipal government agencies), private businesses, and community members disposing of wild game carcasses will be charged $0.22 per pound ($433.00 per ton).  Wildlife carcasses can be disposed of at the Trash Transfer Station Monday – Friday, 7 am-3 pm and Saturdays, 9 am-1 pm.

For more information on wild game carcass disposal and other Trash Transfer Station guidelines and tip fees please visit tetoncountywy.gov/recycle or call (307) 733-7678.
