Weather

Like any community in high northern mountains, Teton County, Wyoming, is subject to severe weather any season, but especially so during the winter months, when icy roads and blowing snow can create hazardous driving and living conditions. However, snow can fall any day of the year, creating danger for unwary motorists and backcountry users alike.
High winds create hazards by toppling trees and powerlines, which can put driver, pedestrian, and homeowner at risk. High winds also can be associated with thunder and lightning storms, which can endanger structures and people. Be Prepared by assessing the current weather conditions and your ability to deal safely with them.
If you have never driven on icy or snow-covered roads, prepare yourself by contacting the Emergency Management Office to get a Be Prepared DVD that covers many preparedness topics, including winder driving.
