Wood Grinding

In October of 2001, the Teton County Board of Commissioners banned the burning of wood materials at the Transfer Facility. The ban on burning was prompted for air quality control issues, fire danger and popular demand from citizens.

Due to the large volume of wood delivered, the only practical solution available was to grind the wood materials and haul the chips to Sublette County Landfill. Today Teton County has found two useful disposal options for these wood chips. Some of the chips are used in the food processing industry as a heat source. Secondly some chips are used by an environmental firm for absorption purposes. We are happy that productive uses have been found and utilized for these wood chips.
