Transfer Facility Regulations

Limitations on size and regulations for sorting of solid waste and regulations for covering of loads:

  1. Concrete and masonry rubble has to be broken up into maximum 300lb pieces. (approximately 2ft. pieces.)

  2. Scrap metal 30lb pieces or less than 3`ft x 5`ft. Larger pieces must be cut to this size to be accepted.

  3. Appliances and tires are accepted. There is an additional charge of $35.00 on refrigerators, freezers and air-conditioners. Tire rates range from $4.00 per tire to $15.00 per tire depending on size, or can be charged at $220 per ton for large loads. Tires must be off the rims.

  4. As of November 8, 2000 the County began chipping all "clean" wood entering the facility. This will require a few changes in how the materials will be accepted. Wood loads in compliance with the following requirements to be accepted.

    1. Wood loads cannot be mixed with dirt and/or rocks.

    2. Only "clean" wood goes to the woodpile.(Nails are acceptable.) Wood with other materials adhering to it must go into the transfer building. Wood going into the building would include demolished building walls and flooring and must be cut into 5`ft. lengths.

    3. Railroad ties and telephone poles or any wood with steel rods inside must be cut into 3`ft lengths and put in transfer building.

    4. Large dimension trees (more than one foot in diameter) must be cut into 3`ft. lengths and will go to the wood pile.

    5. Tree stumps will not be accepted unless they are free of dirt and rocks.

    6. Wood furniture is considered trash and is deposited in the transfer building. Recycling of furniture is encouraged if possible.

    7. No Asbestos will be accepted.

Reminder of Covered Loads Policy

This policy has been in effect since July 10, 2000. All loads must be tarped and tied down , any loose containers such as trash can lids, bins, etc also must be secured upon departure. If you are in violation of this policy you will be charged an extra fee in addition to your regular fee as follows:

Minimum loads up to 500 lbs: $25.00
Loads over 500 lbs: $15.00 per ton
