The department operates in the areas of general administration, fire prevention, code enforcement, public education, electrical safety, training, and emergency response to fires, medical emergencies, and hazardous incidents. This combination department was organized through a 2004 Joint Powers Agreement between the Town of Jackson and Teton County.
Funding is provided on a 50/50 basis from the Town and County, as well as from agreements with St. John’s Medical Center. The Town of Jackson enjoys an Insurance Services Office (ISO) classification of Class 3 within the Town limits. Teton County is classified as an ISO Class 4 within five miles of stations 2, 6 and 7. The balance of the county is rated at ISO Class 10.
The Fire Department is funded through the tax base within Teton County and the Town of Jackson. Money to operate the department is generated through several tax areas, but a significant portion through the Special Fire Fund. Overall costs for apparatus purchases and facility construction and expansion are typically offset by grant acquisition through the Wyoming State Board of Lands and Investments

Fireworks are illegal in Teton County
Fireworks Jackson Hole Fire/EMS reminds you that fireworks are illegal every day of the year in Teton County. Setting off fireworks in Teton County may result in fines and jeopardizes the safety of your family and neighbors. Even though the area has received above average moisture this spring, the resulting fuel load from grasses and fine fuels has created a tinder box for this summer. Please enjoy the fireworks displays provided by the Jaycees and remember to practice fire safety. For more information contact the Fire Prevention Bureau at (307) 733- 4732.
