Jackson Hole Fire/EMS

Pool Firefighter/EMT-B, Intermediate, or Paramedic

The Firefighter/EMT performs emergency aid and medical aid rescue activities by making reasonable and acceptable differential diagnosis, administering emergency medical care and providing other assistance as required by treating a wide range of injuries and illnesses at emergency scenes and during transport via BLS, ALS and emergency care techniques.  Responsible for communicating the pre-hospital patient’s needs to the hospital; provide a safe environment and implement a plan to meet these needs through verbal and written assessment of the patient. The Firefighter/EMT participates in firefighting duties as assigned. Actions performed to suppress fires include laying lines; operating nozzles, operating extinguishers, and performing salvage and overhaul operations. The Firefighter/EMT participates in continuing education, regular crew trainings, post response evaluations and debriefings in order to review critical skills, rarely used skills and to strengthen team functions.

 

This position is classified as pool, which includes working nights, weekends and holidays. Salary range, depending on qualifications and experience:

FF/EMT-B                              Pay Band 5 $15.58/hr

FF/EMT-Intermediate             Pay Band 6 $17.14/hr

FF/Paramedic                        Pay Band 7 $18.86/hr

 

Experience and Training: High School Diploma, current Wyoming Certification as an EMT-B, Intermediate, or Paramedic and a current Wyoming FFI certification; or ability to obtain Wyoming reciprocity in a timely manner. Must obtain PEPP certification within 24 months and maintain thereafter.

Job Requirements: One to two years of increasingly complex, job related experience.

Smoke alarms that are 10 years old are near the end of their service life and should be replaced.  Batteries should be changed once a year and devices should be checked every month.   For more information on smoke alarms, call our office at 733-4732.
