Several years ago, the TCHA Board included, as part of their strategic plan, purchasing land for future affordable workforce housing. They were able to first secure the Karns property, which was later traded for The Grove Property, TCHA's current development. Next, TCHA purchased the Mantey property. the Rains Property, and a commercial building located at 260 W. Broadway. All of these properties will eventually be used for affordable housing. The 260 W. Broadway building is slated to be redeveloped into rental housing once The Grove is completed. To learn more about how these properties were purchased, see SPET Funds.
