Hoback Charrette Press Release
PRESS RELEASE -- ALL MEDIA
For Immediate Release – December 19, 2001.
Teton County has scheduled a four-day design charrette to develop two integrated plans for the Hoback Junction area. One plan will focus on a corridor design for State Highway 26/89/189/191 and a second will be a general plan, including land use, site design and other components. The charrette will run from Wednesday, January 16 through Saturday, January 19 at Camp Creek Inn. The entire charrette is open to the public; however, there are planned public workshops at which residents attendance is most important. The County encourages those interested in the future of Hoback Junction to participate in shaping plans for this area.
The charrette process will rely on the direct participation of local residents, business and property owners to develop plans that reflect the community’s goals for access, circulation and the development character of the Hoback Junction area. The plans will address the needs of pedestrians, bicycles, cars and transit service and provide a framework for the Hoback Junction area that will include a mixed-use center. Additionally, the plans should take into account the aspects of the neighborhood that residents feel provide the identity and image of Hoback Junction.
The charrette design team will work over the course of the four day charrette to develop a series of recommended design plans and programs, with public workshops each evening for public comment and discussion, as shown in the schedule below. The charrette design team is led by Design Workshop’s Jackson office, and includes Jorgensen Engineering and Strout Architects.
The charrette and its related plans are part of a Transportation and Community and Systems Preservation Pilot Program grant the County received from the Federal Highway Administration. The purpose of the grant program is to assist communities in solving interrelated problems involving transportation, land development, environmental protection, public safety and economic development.
For questions regarding the charrette, contact Teresa deGroh, Principal Planner for Teton County at 307-733-3959.
