Trash Transfer Station to Temporarily Close Saturday, October 10 and Monday, October 12 due to Scale Plaza Construction.
Due to the construction of the new scale plaza at the Teton County Trash Transfer Station, the entire facility will be closed on Saturday, October 10 and Monday, October 12. It will reopen with regular hours on Tuesday, October 13 at 7am. “Over the past weekend, construction crews ran into considerable amounts of old landfilled waste under the entrance road to the scale plaza. This waste must be removed prior to paving, and doing so will block the entire facility entrance. To get this done as expeditiously as possible and to keep the public safe, we will close the facility temporarily,” stated Solid Waste and Recycling Superintendent Heather Overholser. While the facility is closed, MD Landscaping and Excavation, the County’s construction contractor for the project, will widen the facility access road, excavate the buried waste in the area, and prepare the roadway for paving.
Citizens are asked to hold onto their landfill-bound waste, yard trimmings, construction waste, scrap metal, concrete, tires, etc. until Tuesday, October 13 (7am-3pm), or, better yet, plan ahead and come to the transfer station on Friday, October 9 (7am-3pm). Overholser wants to thank citizens for their cooperation during this construction project. “We are thrilled that we’ve been able to accommodate the public without any disruption thus far; everyone’s patience and adaptability is greatly appreciated,” continued Overholser. The Recycling Center will be open for recyclable materials according to its normal schedule (M-F, 9am-6pm), with bins out 24/7.
Any questions, please contact Heather or Kent at 307-733-7678. Thank you for your cooperation.
