Property Tax Exemptions, Deferral, Relief or Refund Programs
Property Tax Deferral Program:
The property tax deferral program allows deferment for up to one-half (1/2) of the ad valorem taxes owed, the amount deferred may not exceed one-half (1/2) of the fair market value of the property. Participation is based upon either the applicants` age or income. Interest accrues at a compounded rate of approximately 4% per annum.
If you wish to participate in this program, contact the County Assessor`s Office to apply, deadline is on or before November 8, 2007. The Assessor`s Office information is on this website.
Veteran Exemption Program:
Qualifying taxpayers may reduce their property tax liability or the county portion of motor vehicle registration fees. Individual eligibility is determined by the County Assessor, please contact this office for further information.
Property Tax Relief Program:
Qualifying taxpayers may reduce their property tax liability if the applicant has been a resident of this state for not less than five (5)years, their gross income does not exceed one-half (1/2)of the median gross household income for the applicant`s county of residence or the state, as determined annually by the economic analysis division of the department of administration and information.
For information and participation in this program, contact the County Treasurer or Wyoming Department of Revenue to apply. Applications must be filed by the FIRST MONDAY IN JUNE.
Tax Refund Program for Persons 65 Years of Age or Disabled:
For information and participation contact the Wyoming Department of Health or Senior Center of Jackson Hole. Application deadline is on or before August 31, 2006.
Low Income Home Energy Assistance Program:
Currently a low income energy assistance program exists in Wyoming. The program provides grants for residential energy bills and for weatherization. The program is administered gy the Department of Family Services.
In cooperation with Teton County Government, Official Payments Corporation offers individuals and businesses the opportunity to pay taxes or fees by telephone or directly over the Internet.
Mission Statement
The Treasurer is charged with statutory obligations which include: the collection of taxes and fees, motor vehicle registrations, distributing the same to taxing entities according to imposed mill levies, etc; managing the investment portfolio pursuant to investment policies approved by the Board of County Commissioners; and of managing the office to serve the citizens and taxpayers of Teton County, Wyoming.
